Cutting funding to public libraries is a blow to children in Missouri. We personally visit the library on a weekly basis for literacy development and educational materials, and know many other families that do the same. We hope that you will rethink this decision, keeping in mind that reading is the foundation for all education.

Libraries offer the most bang for the tax buck, and are critical to an informed citizenry. How can we have a representative democracy of the people, by the people, for the people if many people are information have-nots? Public libraries encourage literacy and an informed electorate, an thriving economy with educated workers, and a diverse and tolerant national culture. Any politician who wants my support had better support libraries!

Libraries need their funding to provide materials for our school children to study, seniors to be able to look up material on their health, and for everyone to be able to read without it costing them a lot of money.

The library is a important part of our free education. It is vitally important to our communities. There is something for every citizen from birth to old age. Please release the funds.
