Ask Governor Nixon to Release Funds for Public Libraries

Libraries provide on-going education and entertainment for a cross section of people in any community they serve. A shortfall of $6M to organizations that exist on very minimal tax income really hurts these institutions. It is a huge thing for Missouri's public libraries and not a large amount for the state budget. Governor Nixon you are causing significant harm without significant benefit to the finances of the State of Missouri. Rescind this decision.

Please release the 2015 state aid for libraries and fully fund state aid for Missouri's libraries in 2016. Public libraries are perhaps one of the only institutions that welcome people of all ages and economic levels to enrich and improve their lives with books, programs, current information, etc. State aid helps libraries provide essential public services and indicates our state government's dedication to learning and better living. Cutting state aid for libraries will be a huge step backward for Missouri -- so, don't!.

We need our libraries! Libraries are more than just books! We offer so many different and various services to our community. We are an important member of the community. Six million dollars is a tremendous amount of money to withold from the members of this community who depend upon their local library practically every day!!!
