I am an AAFP member from Virginia, and a FM Residency Director. We as physicians are healers, and should not promote killing role. As a longstanding AAFP member, no one asked my opinion on this topic, and I resent my representative body doing this.

I am currently a member of the AAFP but if the academy continues to pursue ideology over common sense and good medicine I may have to seriously consider supporting the organization in the future.

I have been a member of the AAFP since the 1980s. But I feel increasingly marginalized by the academy by its disinterest in hearing my voice and continual progressive political shift. I wonder for how much longer I can keep both my conscience and my membership in the AAFP?

Even our pagan physician patriarch, Hippocrates, would not give anything to a woman to cause an abortion. Can we do any less?

I have never been asked by AAFP leadership of my opinion on whether the AAFP should or should not support abortion rights. I assume my experience is not unique. Therefore whether the membership of AAFP would support any statement on abortion is unknown. That should preclude any statements from AAFP leadership being representative of the membership.

I am here today, because my mother did NOT have access to abortion.
I think the AAFP is a better organization than to advocate for the killing of some of it's most vulnerable patients. If not, then to quote my mother, "I am ashamed of you."

Why is it that we review the medical literature on obstretic care and caring for both the mother and the unborn baby, but if the mother doesn't want the pregnancy it is OK to take the baby's life. I believe all who are for abortion will have to answer to God Almighty one day and then it will be too late.
