Having graduated from Georgetown Medical School in '79 and a Family Medicine Residency program in '82, I have practiced family centered care for the past 37 years. I have been a faithful member of the AAFP during all this time with the firm belief that one of its highest held values was to make all efforts to assist others in attaining and maintaining their highest quality of life physical and psychologically. Abortion does neither. It destroys life and brings great psychological pain and suffering. Why would a great institution that supports life endeavor to destroy it and bring lasting disaster into the lives of those we seek to help. No, I shall not be a part of a society of physicians who seek and support death under the lie of bringing a better life to those whom we care. This would be calculated and calloused perpetration of culpable acts which induce life-long pain. Murder is murder whether we legalize it or not.

As a Family Medicine Doctor I commit to supporting all my patients, including the unborn, irregardless of whether they are wanted. I further commit to supporting women with undesired pregnancies by providing care and options that do not end an innocent life. I will continue to unapologetically stand for life and help women achieve more with their child in hand than would otherwise be possible.

As an AAFP member, I went into family medicine to care for and protect patients from conception to natural death. Abortion is not health care and should never be sanctioned by physicians who should be caring for their patients, born and unborn.

I have been disappointed in the AAFP's stance on both abortion, and the change to a neutral position for physician assisted suicide. I am not a member of the AAFP, but would consider becoming one again if they would reconsider these positions.

It is hypocrisy for family physicians to support abortion. Babies ARE family even if they need to be given to another family because its blood parents are unable to care for it. Murder is NEVER the way to conscientiously solve any problem...

Please reverse our policy of the encouragement of abortion. I believe that the facts are indisputable that we are killing a human life, a baby, when an abortion is done. We can argue whether we should be allowed to kill a baby for the desire of mom. But because this is an area of dispute we should as a society be supporting alternatives to abortion. That is where the AAFP should put it’s focus. Personally I hang my head in shame when we don’t stand up for the life of the unborn babies especially female babies.

Not an AAFP member, but a member of the human race that cares for our physical, emotional, intellectual, and moral health.
To abort: an act to end something. Q: What something? A: Something with life (something that is alive).
Our common human heritage (history, experience, sense, judgment) has held that (especially human) life is sacred and worthy of protection. The Hippocratic Oath and Declaration of Independence (which names three "unalienable rights" derived by our creator) witness this common heritage, despite those relatively few who oppose this truth of reason (and faith).
What does the AAFP gain by going against this common reason?
I know what they lose.

The practice of medicine is by definition, pro-life scientifically, ethically, and philosophically. The pro-choice position is a political one and would divide the AAFP down party and religious lines, costing it close to 50% of its membership.
