As a D.O. and a long term AAFP member and occasional Deligate, I have become increasingly concerned with the politically motivated moral stances of this organization. I became a doctor to uphold life not to extinguish it for convenience sake. I may rethink my support of AAFP.

I love the AAFP and much of what it stands for but am deeply disappointed in its lack of wholehearted support to our youngest patients. I totally support a woman’s right to autonomy over all she is but cannot support the taking of human life.

I was an AAFP member for many years but discontinued my membership due to repetitive moral/political stances taken by the organization that no longer represented me. If/when the AAFP becomes a professional organization again rather than a political/moral one, then I will gladly rejoin.

I am of among a generation of physicians who pledged the Hippocratic Oath at graduation. Let us not forget: " I will not give to a woman an instrument to produce an abortion."

I have let my 30 + year membership lapse primarily because I recently retired. However, the increasingly liberal stance of the AAFP and its moral deterioration relative to the physician assisted suicide issue and now abortion, would have driven me away from the organization.

Given the diversity of deeply held beliefs on these issues among family physicians, the AAFP should not be publishing such polarizing positions.
