I have been a nurse for 40 years, working in Maternal Child Health most of that time. I oppose the AAFP's actions to promote and support abortion. As health care providers, we must acknowledge that once conception occurs, two distinct lives exist--the woman and the unborn child must both receive our care and attention. This is basic science. The unborn child is a unique individual, not just a clump of cells. We must support and protect both the life of the mother and the life of the child!

I have been a physician for 36 years. We must follow the Hippocratic Oath and do no harm to our patients. We must take care of both the mother and the unborn child. Abortion is not health care, plain and simple. It is the taking of an innocent human life.

As a delegate to the AAFP I fully support the above petition.

Former AAFP member. Retired. Denying the personhood and the right to life of the unborn human at any stage of pregnancy perpetuates a serious moral and professional deficit that will inevitably result in the distrust of physicians and impair the physician-patient relationship. Abortion and euthanasia are racist expressions of the denial of personhood and are neither moral nor compassionate.

Every life is sacred. In my counseling ministry not one woman who has had an abortion has been left unscarred. They carry that child with them for the rest of their life and their guilt is never fully resolved.

I will definitely leave the AAFP if they support abortion. The AAFP should be leading the medical community in protecting the dignity of all of our patients, including those within the womb. We should oppose tearing babies from their mother's wombs limb by limb.

I am an AAFP resident and urge the AAFP to support care of both maternal and fetal life, and to reject being a proponent of abortion.

The Hippocratic insights were about trust in the physician-patient relationship. The Oath summarizes the key points that allow patients to fully trust their physicians. AAFP is not choosing a wise path for our physicians or our patients when they advocate for abortion or prenatal search and destroy. This is why I left the AAFP after 25 years.

Abortion is an indefensible position for AAFP to support. First, do no harm.
