I fully agree with the need to value and protect our prenatal patients. I can only hope that future generations of family doctors will look at the 50 million abortions (and counting) performed in the US since 1973 as the atrocity that it is. I have little hope of this for our current generation. I am a member of the AAFP and have NOT been asked to give input on this issue by the AAFP as they have been crafting their policy statements.

This will cause a split in the Family Practice physicians. This would not represent all of the members.

We will never have a peaceful society as long as women are allowed to destroy the most vulnerable life inside of them, this policy is anti-life and will further erode our chances at a peaceful society that recognizes the dignity of every (preborn) human life

I'm a family medicine intern and a member of the AAFP. I attended the KC conference last year, and am trying to decide if the AAFP will be an organization I participate in long term or not. The AAFP's stunning retreat from opposition to physician-assisted suicide (contrary to the AMA's recent decision) showed very concerning lack of moral conviction. This step on abortion, a topic that many of my fellow interns feel strongly about, since my fellow medical students largely choose family medicine for faith-based convictions, is nauseating. I petition the AAFP to protect the lives of my fetal patients as well as their mothers - both deserve or care and accompaniment, not abandonment to the trauma of abortion. Respectfully, George Kane, MD

As a Family Physician, abortion flies in the face of everything my work stands for and it must be opposed...there are better options for "inconvenient pregnancies."

Please reject the support of abortion. Abortion is in direct opposition of our role as physicians.

The AAFP does many good things, and I was a member for decades. With heavy I heart withdrew my support for the organization several years ago due to AAFP policies which are ever more political rather than patient oriented. Each year I carefully review the membership recruitment materials and the Academy's policies, and each year I am unable to renew membership due to the AAFP's anti-life principles. It is my sincere hope that the Academy will once again become a voice for physicians who care for all patients, including the most vulnerable and voiceless.
