Abortion in any form, especially late term Infanticide, is always wrong and inexcusable. We must not tolerate it, ever !

I have been a member of the AAFP for 19 years. If this comes to pass, my conscience will not allow me to remain a member, nor will it allow me to strongly recommend membership for my partners and residents.

Being pro-family means providing care across the full spectrum of human life. This means offering contraception options, good prenatal care, working to solve social determinants of health to allow children born to have the best life possible. Abortion should not be the standard and certainly there is no reason to argue for expanding abortion services throughout pregnancy. At some point that is a human being. I would argue that starts at conception not at delivery. I will nto be a part of an organization that strongly advocates for expanding abortions beyond the current standing. I know many people who will likewise vote with their feet. Please be respectful and stay out of the abortion business. Its just messy and the AAFP has no need to weight in beyond a call for the safest abortions possible if an abortion is to be had.

As a member and fellow for the past 37 years, I have come to appreciate that Family Medicine is about family, and life. Instead of promoting abortion as a form of family planning, promote education and contraception. Avoid taking stands in which a majority of members do not favor.

I am against abortion, and as a loyal member of the AAFP and a fellow, I hope our leadership will listen to me and the other members of the AAFP who are against abortion. Let’s continue preserving life. Please stay out of this highly charged political issue.

I have been a member of AAFP since my early med student days. This is the first time since I started as a student member in 1983 that I am left questioning whether it is worth continuing. Please reject the support of abortion.
