Ask AAFP to Reject Recent Support of Abortion

No citizen of the US should be forced to act against his or her conscience. The founding fathers understood this, as religious wrs had caused so much destruction, misery and death in Europe, where their ancestors had originated. Freedom of Religion demands Freedom of Conscience. You can't have one without the other. I am a retired OBG, my father was a GP, the fore runner of Family Medicine. He would have beenappalled at the Academy's position in this matter.

Everyone deserves a chance at life. Life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness are all freedoms we were given. Don't take life away from those with no say. Those who can't speak yet don't deserve to have that right taken away from them. Instead let them pursue happiness.

Family Medicine

I'm a medical student and I feel it is wrong to support abortion. We should support healthcare for everyone, including the unborn. They are living human beings and we should advocate for them since they cannot do it themselves.

As a family physician resident, this saddens and disappoints me for the field I am going into

I am an AAFP and KAFP student member. A significant portion —I would argue that the majority— of family medicine providers, educators, students, and physicians in my area share the views in this petition, yet consistently see an opposing viewpoint supported by the AAFP. I do not believe the AAFP point of view in this realm is representative of the true beliefs of its members, which makes me concerned about it fairly representing me and the interests of my communities in the future as I become a Family Medicine physician.

While not an AAFP member, I totally support those who are prolife and I respect but don’t approve nor support the killing of babies at any gestational age I strongly support the freedom of physicians to choose life and not be coerced into the destruction of life from conception to natural death. Therefore, I am requesting that you cease and desist in trying to force your members to things against their principles in the practice of medicine to please a group who share a distinctly different opinion and are coercing others to conform with killing

I cannot continue to support or be a member of an organization that supports abortion

As physicians, we are to protect all life and to never intentionally harm. How can AAFP support intentionally killing human lives who are the most vulnerable and innocent? I am in full agreement with this petition. AAFP member.
