As a junior member in the show ring as well as a commercial breeder, we feel that in order to preserve the integrity of the breed that registrations should be limited to 50% and above.

Not take the good out
Of Our Breed and make it nothing more than a glorified crossbred show. Keep the foundation breed of Simmental the true base of these cattle competing and being displayed!

Allowing 3/8 cattle show in ASA PTP shows is NOT showcasing the Simmental breed. Our numbers are not low that we should feel the need to lower the standard to bring more people to our breed. Please keep the integrity of the Simmental breed by showcasing only halfblood (1/2) or greater Simmental cattle. It seems the ASA continues to heavily promote percentage cattle, which have a valuable place in the industry, but let’s not forget in order to have an F1 cross you still need a purebred Simmental. Please remember which breed you’ve selected to represent as an association and board of trustees... Not Angus, Hereford, Chi, etc. ... Simmental cattle is the focus of our membership.

If an animal is less than 50% then it is not really that breed but more of another breed or mix...isn't that the definition of commercial then?!!! This will be the demise of your breed and association!!! Use some common sense here!!!
