This indeed shows that the government assumes no duty of care towards the people in the north of the Scotland forcing the people to travel more than 200 miles to receive the care that they deserve (for which indeed they pay through tax).

The North of Scotland needs this service, and to U-turn on the plans now is unimaginable.

Centralising such an important facility is typical of the SNP government who are relentlessly centralising everything. The MTC in Aberdeen should remain for the safety and wellbeing of the area North of the central belt.

It is essential that ARI retains cutting edge capability locally for the people of the north and north-east of Scotland

Glasgow and Edinburgh are simply too far away from areas in the north of Scotland and the risk to patients after major trauma of having to travel those sort of distances would be too great. By contrast, the journey time between Edinburgh and Glasgow is relatively short. ARI already has all of the specialisms needed to be a major trauma centre and is geographically well-placed to serve a large area of northern Scotland. Concentrating services in the central belt like this does a disservice to those living in other parts of the country.

Aberdeen is Scotland's third largest city. ARI also serves the Highlands and Islands (Northern and Western). It would be an outrage if major trauma centres were confined to the central belt. It would be centralisation of the worst kind

The North and North East of Scotland are often forgotten about. Edinburgh and Glasgow are too far away to justify leaving out Aberdeen as a major trauma centre. We have wonderful resources here.

A typical central-belt stitch up.
Trauma Centres should be located in either Glasgow or Edinburgh, and one other city to serve the rest of Scotland
Yet agsin I am not surprised
