The first hour is supposed to be critical in the treatment of major trauma victims. It will be impossible for NE Scotland patients to be treated in this time period if they have to travel to the Central belt.

Aberdeen is the only centre in Scotland to have all the necessary specialists on one site. The other proposed centres do not. If Aberdeen is not made one of the MTC's, 25% of the Scottish population will be put at increased risk.

A crazy idea to make everyone with major trauma travel to the Central belt, Aberdeen should have it's own

The notion that another major incident happening in the North Sea like Piper Alpha would then mean transporting possibly hundreds of injured people hundreds of miles before treatment is ridiculous !!

With a clear strategy of taking everything to the Central Belt and being non-committal in their manifesto, there should be more than a growing concern that these trauma centres will end up in the central belt with the original plans for 4 centres more than likely being reduced to 2.

We need a major trauma centre in the north east of Scotland. The central belt is too far away to safely respond quickly.

This shouldn't even be questioned. ARI trauma services is vital to those not just in the north east but those in the Highlands also.

Centralising services to the central belt and doing the people of northern Scotland and the North Sea a huge disservice.

Crazy not to have a major trauma centre out with the central belt. What the point of having two within an hours drive?

It does not make sense to have everything in the Central Belt! How many lives will be lost if ARI is not a Trauma Centre?

To quote a former instructor in Advanced Trauma Life Support, "If patients with complex critical conditions warrant transfer to a trauma centre in the central belt, a significant number will die; and a greater number will probably have to endure avoidable disabilities.". That makes the case for a trauma centre in the North East of Scotland better than any words I could put together.

There should be one trauma centre in the North too. Aberdeen and its surrounding area in the north are less well connected to Edinburgh than Glasgow (or vice versa), implying that not having the trauma centre in Aberdeen will cause a longer transport for patients than not having the trauma centre either in Edinburgh or Glasgow (and transporting patients between these two cities).

Why must all of the services be centred in the central belt. This trauma centre must stay with the ARI for the North East.
