We need quick and expert attention locally - not 150 miles away along with the trauma of a helicopter or ambulance to Edinburgh or Glasgow - it would also be more than possible that we would lose our highly skilled trauma medic's and surgeons to the big trauma centers

It is absolutely vital that Aberdeen Royal Infirmary be a major trauma centre to serve that part of the population of Scotland who live outside the central belt and should be guaranteed the best medical treatment available within the time when that treatment is most needed.

This latest decision is another example of the central belt bias we see in Westminister and Hollyrood. Does the rest of the world realise there are people who live North of Dundee? If this doesn't happen think of the effects for not only the people of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire but further afield in Inverness, Shetland and Orkney. Also considering the plans for developments in Aberdeen, with plans to bring 10's of thousands more families to Aberdeen, how could this be considered a sensible option?

ARI have all the facilities for major trauma in the north of Scotland. They also deal with all the islands off the coast.
