Araibira has played a large role in spreading ozumo internationally. I probably would not be following the sport were it not for his efforts. Please bring back his channel and let him continue to promote the sport.

Please reinstate Araibira’s channel. He is spreading Sumo to the world. Araibira should be commended not shut down and stripped of his work. Look at the big picture!

It is on account of archived and live streaming sumo that I became a fan and ultimately flew to Japan to attend the basho last May.

When I was first exposed to sumo as a child, I quickly developed a keen interest in it that has blossomed overtime into a deep appreciation for its status both as a sport and as one of Japan's cultural treasures. Without the archives that are kept on channels such as this one, I and many other fans would have no chance of being able to enjoy sumo, and to lose such a great contribution to the documentation of the sport is an outright shame.

The loss of Araibira's channel is a shame perceived from all around the world. He didn't steal a penny from anyone and contributed to bring the Sumo around the world better than NSK did. BRING IT BACK!

Removing Araibira's channel has been akin to shooting itself on the foot from the NSK perspective. The channel was, at no cost to the NSK, an invaluable resource for sumo enthusiasts all around the world, and a great way for them to spread the world to others.

Please reestablish the channel. Save a great archive like this one. It's important to save history of sumo and make it accessable for all current and future fans around the world.

Considering that the change in policy only targets fans outside of Japan, who don't have access to the regular NHK broacast, while the (now blocked) video archive was even used by rikishi themselves, makes the corporate decisionmaking look even more mindbogglingly myopic. The NSK is fighting decreasing interest in Japan's most essential sport. To turn away exactly those ambassador's who have spent a lot of time and effort to advertise for it, is the single most stupied move in a long history of mismanagement on part of the NSK. The video archive, in combination with the Sumo Database was the most influential achievment of dedication and fandom one could imagine. The NSK has to raise its voice to amend their mistake ASAP. If the new policy stands, there is no turning back: International recognition of sumo in the digital age will stay marginalized and effectively be wiped off the map.

I never would have discovered the amazing sport of sumo were it not for the hard work of Araibira and all those who have archived and compiled the matches. I think having foreigners like me able to access the matches can only be beneficial for the tourism industry, as well as giving sumo the worldwide audience it deserves. Locking the sport behind a paywall severely limits your ability to gain new fans.
