As a resident of the Village of New Paltz, I believe that ArborVitae's presence on Huguenot St is an asset to the community and completely appropriate to the agricultural use of the property. It would be a sad day if they are not permitted to stay and do their good work here.

I live in the Hudson Valley and I currently work as an herbalist. I attended Arbor Vitae for three years, prior to their move to New Paltz, and can speak not only to the quality of education, but also its positive impact on the Hudson Valley community overall. I urge Board Members to support this Use Variance. Thank you!

This school is a wonderful addition to New Paltz. They value community, resourcefulness, and mindfulness of the earth/environment. Living in the Hudson Valley offers so many opportunities and to learn about nature, plants and plant medicines.

I graduated from ArborVitae this past May and it has been the most profound experience of my life thus far. The knowledge and respect ArborVitae holds for not only plant medicine, but also for humanity and the land we all share, is invaluable. Their work to support those on this herbal path with mindfulness, compassion and real life experience is creating a safe space for those searching for help to come and feel heard, being held by this land and in return, caring for it deeply.

As a previous student I can confidently say Arborvitae is a tremendous guide and support amongst these challenging times where traditional knowledge and caretaking of our beloved lands and communities too often goes amiss. The school provides a nurturing and safe haven for students to learn about their role in preserving and treating wild spaces with integrity and respect. They’ve empowered me to be active in my community as an agricultural steward and direction to safely and effectively support my family and friends with herbal medicine. Arborvitae seeks to preserve, honor and uplift traditions of humanity that have carried us through for eons — from our land to communal histories. I can wholeheartedly say the beloved Arborvitae is a positive addition to any community.

I am a former student of AV and a current nurse working in NYC. Before AV I studied at Bard College in the Hudson Valley and have a rich community still there. ArborVitae is an asset to this area. I have only positive things to say about this school and the community It creates. I have no doubt that its contributions to the people, businesses, and physical environment of New Paltz are invaluable.

As a third year student of ArborVitae, the quality and depth of my education has been greatly enhanced by relocating to the Hudson Valley. This location for the school provides a space where we as a community can fully integrate our studies, by being together and by being in proximity to the natural world.

This home is an asset to the community. In no way does it create noise or any type of disturbance to the neighborhood. It is historical and beautiful.
