To: Romanian President Traian Băsescu, Prime Minister Victor Ponta, Romanian Association for Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture, TVR3 Verde, and Dor Transilvan Ensemble

Please formally apologize and take accountability for broadcasting and singing a holiday song glorifying the burning of Jews. Create a commission to broadcast Holocaust education on the same state sponsored network.

An anti-Semitic song praising God for burning Jews in chimneys was recently aired on a public broadcasting station in Romania. They broadcasted a group of holiday singers celebrating the season by singing: “The kikes, damn kikes, Holy God would not leave the kike alive, neither in heaven nor on earth, only in the chimney as smoke, this is what the kike is good for, to make kike smoke through the chimney on the street.”

270,000 Romanian Jews were murdered during the Holocaust. Surely, Romania blames the Nazi invasion for the genocide, but clearly there is a tradition of anti-Semitism in the country, especially if 60 years later the "joy" of the season is marked by lyrics that are anti-Semitic and reminiscent of the Nazi death camps.

Please sign the petition requesting that the Romanian President Traian Băsescu, Prime Minister Victor Ponta, the Society for the Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture ,TVR3 Verde, and the Dor Transilvan ensemble offer a public apology for the broadcast. President Băsescu and TVR3 Verde should also announce the formation of a committee to plan a broadcast on the history of anti-Semitism and the Holocaust on their public station.

Here is the anti-Semitic broadcast.

I have been reading the comments you are leaving and the weight of this history is truly profound. It is overwhelming to see so many people acknowledge that these words have no place in our world today. Thank you for helping me realize that I am not alone in feeling this way.

I am honestly overwhelmed by the response to this petition. It was never my intention to lead such a large movement, but seeing all of you speak up against this hatred has truly humbled me.

Thank you for signing. Not much has still be done about this except the broadcaster had to pay a fine. Now it's disappeared from the media and no one cares. I want to see some education there and an acknowledgement from top officials that Holocaust education is needed, especially in rural areas.

I am sorry to say I am not surprised. In my student years in Romania during Coomunism, I was occasionally called "lifta straina" by class mates (a derogatory term for foreigners), even though that was forbidden by law,and intellectuals with whom I discussed the large-scale massacres in Bessareabia in 1941, called them 'normal war-time incidents.'

This is government-sponsored bigoted propaganda, plain and simple. What place do these hateful sentiments have in the world in the 21st century?

Horrifying and shocking. How anyone can joyfully sing about the destruction of anyone else in the name of "holiday spirit" brings us to a new low.

I have a Romanian friend who loves me and my family dearly. She would be appalled to hear this song, which devalues us (to say the least).

Romania has a history of strong relations with Israel starting in 1948 and was the only communist country to maintain relations with Israel during the cold war. The country should be ashamed of giving a voice to anti-Semitic elements. I call on the government to offer a public apology and ensure that this doesn't happen in the future

Those lyrics are insanely antisemitic. what kind of people celebrate genocide for Christmas? Shameful!
