If the source code is not released I will never buy any device based on MediaTek chips.

MediaTek are allowed Linux for free only if they share what they have changed. Follow the law.
With open source MediaTek source could be useful, now they are just annoying. Will not get a new MediaTek phone before source is released.

MediaTek should at least release the kernel source as they set on to do when licensing the linux kernel by GPL. That's the least they have to do. In addition to that, if they really want to see their SOCs fly of the shelves, they are going to need developer support and they are not going to get it without releasing at least the documentation of SOC, preferably rip out all the binary parts that are not someones others IP and give us the source.

You would do yourself a great favor, since all the open source developers would work with your code and they would be a great input. Moreover even more people would have good reasons for buying phones, that use just your chips!
