MTK chips are the best, but the support for them not.

Just release the Source Code and see what gifts and surprises the Android Community(especially "XDA") have to offer you. We as a community request you to please release the Source Code for several SoC. Please.

Lots of people have bough Android devices with MediaTek chips inside. For many of those people, trying to keep their devices updated to the latest version of Android has been an exercise in futility. The main issue with your platform seems to be it's closed nature. Because of that, it's extremely difficult for the Android developer community to provide any support for devices that rely on MediaTek chips. Please, openly provide all necessary binaries and source, so there can be proper Android developer community support for MediaTek based devices. Basically, full support for AOSP + Custom ROMs. You could aim to be the "Asian Nexus" and reap all the benefits of the Android developer community enthusiasts. For more information: Google Nexus devices:http://www.google.com/nexus/ XDA Developers forum:http://forum.xda-developers.com/ AOSP:https://android.googlesource.com/ CyanogenMod (Custom ROM):http://get.cm/ Paranoid Android (Custom ROM):http://www.paranoid-rom.com/ AOKP (Custom ROM):http://aokp.co/ Thanks in advance. Regards.

missing source code is annoying the hell out of me (owner of a fairphone) please just release the source-code, it'll help you build a name in the community. Otherwise me and a lot of other people will never buy or recommend devices with your hardware. Remember: we are the people who recommend electronics to family, friends and co-workers; you won't just lose us as a customer.

I bought a Fairphone which uses your chipset. On the basis of the closed source of this, I am peresing them not to use it for their next 'phone. Your policy is losing you reputation and customers.
