Restricting access to the code for your chipset will shorten the life of your product - not extend it. i will be good business practice for you to release the code.

Why keep old versions when there is a possibility to have the new ones. MT6589 in Droxio_A47 from 3GO.

I bought an Ainol AX10 tablet stacked full of features very well priced. It works very well, with JB 4.2.2 inparticular the GPS, it's very quick. But I am regretting the purchase due to no custom ROMs and no Ainol Numy updates for Kitkat (now 13/10/14). Nor do I expect any updates for this tablet even though Ainol say they have been working on them for 9 months., So will be looking to buy another without a Mediatek processor because I believe it'll take many years for the sloth to learn that the Developement Community is a resource for the community, (which includes Mediatek). A community that can enhance THEIR products and provide THEIR customers with individual features highly tuned to Mediatek's customers needs. I want my tablet highly tuned and adaptable. Goodbye Mediatek.

As user of a Fairphone it would be great if you, MediaTek, make your product open to benefit the Android community.
