I wish to request you strongly consider naming Grady Middle School after Ann Sledge. I was Ann's secretary for 2 years when she was an Executive Principal at HISD's West Region Office. I can tell you first-hand that Ann was a dedicated educator who was a champion of the students. She very carefully oversaw the care of each of her schools via coaching new principals and working hand-in-hand with those principals and teachers who needed or requested her help. She shared her knowledge in a way that was unobtrusive and so helpful to the administration, teaching staff and students. As exhausting as the EP position was, Ann found time in her schedule several times a year to read to students at her various school.s. Ann cared deeply for the children. To name this school after Ann would honor her memory greatly with the Sledge Family, her District family and dear friends.

I live near Briargrove Elementary and Grady Middle School. No finer person to represent education than Dr. Ann Sledge.
