Dr. Ann Sledge was a natural-born educator. She was passionate about learning and teaching others. Ann became fluent in Spanish and moved to Houston to become a bilingual teacher. She worked her way up the ladder in HISD by becoming a Principal, Executive Principal, SIO, and Asst. Superintendent for Talent Management. Ann dedicated over 30 years of her professional career to HISD. She taught, encouraged, and inspired thousands of people in Houston including students, teachers, staff members, and parents. Ann's thirst for learning was contagious. Ann Sledge was my professional mentor, and she meant the world to me. I am amazed by the number of people who feel the same as me. She mentored me as a first year teacher and as an administrator. I cannot think of a better person to consider for the renaming of Grady Middle School.
