Anaheim Safer Parking Petition

I am staying in a LIVE/WORK loft right on Center st Promenade. And the Traffic is insanity, nothing short of chaos. Everyday, I find our entrance to the building obstructed by large trucks blocking the exit, cars parked blocking the entire driveway to enter and exit. Cars idle, sitting and waiting for spots, stopping in the middle of the street with no regard for driving laws or courtesy to the tenants trying to simply get into their building where we live! The yellow loading zone should be STRICTLY enforced at all times in high traffic hours between 6am-7pm. It's truly absurd that the parking enforcement is not on stand by; JUST on our street to enforce the parking laws here and give tickets left and right. People do what they want and the city turns blind eye and its causing accidents, and many more issues that are NOT ok by any standards. While the answer is right in front of everyone; there is NO shortage of parking spaces in the parking structure for Wells fargo and they are NEVER utilized, its just a mess. I love Pokinomentry; It's a great restaurant, attracting many patrons, though they must contract the wells fargo parking structure or the city to get a proper and official parking lot for its customers. When it comes down to the core issues, I would agree that its due to the high popularity of the restaurant and its patrons that is causing 90% of the traffic problems on our street. Its wonderful they are a success in our area, with this success they must adapt to their popularity and offer 1 hour free parking for their costumers, in the structure just a few feet away. If they had their own designated parking area, similar to ' The flame Broiler' down the street. It would eliminate many of the issues in this situation, by far. And the city enforcing the parking laws everyday! Meters are not a good idea as it would cause more trouble in the long run with cost to install, maintenance and people still fighting to get spots. This is to petition for better parking solutions for the area.

Delivery and moving trucks park in loading zones for prolonged periods of times. Cars block Harbor Lofts entrance and exit to parking structure. People park in red zones.

Since moving into Harbor lofts, I have seen traffic increase gradually on Center St. Promenade between Harbor Blvd. and Clementine. The popularity of the new businesses has created a situation where there is not enough "free" parking on the street. This causes drivers to double park with hazard lights, obstruct other drivers passing through, make illegal or unsafe 3 point turns and even drive on the wrong side of the road. Vehicles will also block the entrance and exit to the Harbor lofts building, often leaving vehicles unattended. I have had guests vehicles damaged twice by other vehicles aggressively trying to grab a space and crashing/scraping their cars. In one instance I witnessed the incident and in the other case it was a hit and run. Please conduct a traffic study as this is having a large impact on many residents, tourists, visitors and local consumers. Potential solutions to look at: -Create a one way street heading eastbound from Harbor to the roundabout. This would prevent the U-turn, illegal 3 point turn chaos. -Add parking meters to the spaces. reconfigure the parking on the street to maximize the utilization of the space, while preventing dangerous situations or traffic obstructions. -Open an entrance to the parking garage on the roundabout. Clearly marked for people to use. The bank validates parking for their customers and they should be encouraged to use the underutilized garage. -Enforce the laws in place now. Issue citations for double parking, illegal turns. Blocking driveway entrances etc.

The parking situation is terrible.

I've been living at Harbor Lofts for six years and have seen the traffic congestion worsen every year. There are simply not enough parking spaces for the amount of businesses we have on W. Center St. Promenade.

Ridiculous amount of congestion!

I’ve been with the Harbor Lofts community say May 2013 and since my time there, I’ve noticed the parking and driving situation along Center St. Promenade getting progressively worse as new businesses move into the area. While this is good for commerce, revenue, and image revitalization of the Downtown Anaheim area, it makes the living situation unbearable at times. There is a constant flow of traffic from the hockey rink, Wells Fargo building, and during business hours, lots of traffic for Pokinometry and the thrift store that opened not too long ago. Non-residents to the area are constantly pulling dangerous turns, driving purposely onto the curbs just to have somewhere to park their cars, and generally causing mayhem with the parking situation. Utilization and/or expansion of the parking areas along center street or the parking structure should be the first and quickest remedy to the parking madness. However, it’s my opinion that a traffic study/investigation should be done for a long-term solution with possible revenue generation for the city (to pay for expansion/upgrades/study/admin costs) such as hourly charges to the parking structure or the addition of metered stalls?

In the last few years of living here with my boyfriend, I've seen the street go from a quiet, safe area to one of constant congestion and many unsafe conditions including parking ON sidewalk, illegal u-turns, blocking cars by double parking, people parked in red/yellow zones and often blocking the entrance to the lofts just to name a few. While it's great that there are more businesses doing well in the area, the parking infrastructure is in shambles and MUST be fixed before it gets even worse.

My wife and I have been living at the Harbor Lofts on W Center St Promenade for over 3 years. Before Pokinometry opened, the street was safe with very little traffic of Promenade. This felt like a truly great place to even live during retirement; easy to walk for food or for enjoyment. Now with three major new stores opening, people drive franticly finding places to park, cutting in front of others to grab a parking spot… Out of control selfish and illegal driving habits including stopping in the middle of the street for a longtime waiting to find a parking space. Cars are making illegal U-Turns between cars parked on both sides of the street. Cars are even stopped in the Loft parking entrance drive-way waiting to find a parking spot. PLEASE put up “NO U-Turn” signs and monitor the impatient drivers in this beautiful part of Anaheim. Now, we are talking about moving because of this.

Parking needs to be safer for our children.

More parking needs to be opened up to alleviate the parking and safety issues on W Center St.

This street is so unsafe!

With ample parking across the street being underutilized by Wells Fargo, we have a solution that will help with just a small tweak to how it's organized.

the parking situation is so bad along center street promenade that I actually met with Gail Eastman several years ago who told me that they designed the street for one car families! In Southern California that is ridiculous. As CSP becomes more successful the parking problem compounds affecting those that live here, those that shop here and those that work here. It's so bad that it's a scary situation to be a pedestrian as people park in unmarked spaces, constantly block crosswalks creating visibility problems. The worst addition is Saint Joes taking over EVEN MORE PARKING STALLS. You are creating a safety problem for people and need to provide more parking.

As a long time resident of Anaheim (grew up) and I've been living at the lofts for 3 years, the traffic here has increased greatly. It started with the addition of Pokinometry, then Rare, now St. Joseph offices. The traffic is horrible here. People double park all the way down the street, Make sudden U-turns, block the exit/entrance gate to our complex. Please do a traffic count on this street as this situation is getting worse on a daily basis.

The infrastructure of the street was never designed for the level and kind of traffic. Actually the low curbs, brick surface and pop-up bollards at each end were designed for a pedestrian street used for events. But now the street is dangerous to pedestrians and the trees, lamp-fixtures and surfaces damaged and in need of repair. A traffic study needs to be conducted and a plan to make significant changes made and enacted.
