Final supporters
Ana Mae Bances is a current part-time student at Lincoln Park, taking her final credit class online due to health and familial situations. She is scheduled and on track to finish this class by August of this year! Though she is not required to, she comes to school every day to perform with the Chamber Singers and even runs two clubs! She is incredibly dedicated and involved in the school community, but unfortunately due to her part-time student status and the later scheduled date of when her requirements will be fulfilled, she has been told that she can not walk accross the stage with her fellow classmates at graduation this year on June 10, 2018.
Please support Ana Mae and stand up for her to be able complete this monumentous achievement in front of her family and friends just as her peers will. We all deserve to celebrate our accomplishment of completing four challenging years of high school; Ana Mae should not be excluded from the earned opportunity to walk accross the stage at graduation this year.

I support AnaMae to walk across stage not only for her accomplisments, resilience and contribution to LPHS but also as the Voice of LP students who are not able to walk across stage due to physical or mental individual circumstances that were also coldly dismissed by LP Administration. This policy of "no exceptions" needs to change. All students should be treated with humanity and respect not just as a commodity to increase tests and attendance scores.
It is a shame that administration is punishing a student that has contributed so much to the LP community. I am flabbergasted that the system is not recognizing the health challenges she has faced and conquered. As a CPS teacher I am ashamed and embarrassed of the respond by the LP administration and the counseling team. We need more students like AnaMae. She is a role model, an activist and a positive presence in the LP community. Shame on the policy and shame on an administration that punishes a student with unique and special needs. Maybe they should reread Domain 4. Differentiation is just as important for administration as it is for teachers.
I’ve known AnaMae for 6 years, and I know that they have worked so incredibly hard to graduate. Part of that important milestone is walking across the stage at graduation, and it would be inhumane not to grant AnaMae this honor for all their hard work.
This is not an unusual request and most Seniors who have not met their requirements walk the stage but simply receive an empty diploma frame/holder. She IS involved and has health and familial issues that constrain her and are beyond her control. She should be able to at least walk with her graduating class.
AnaMae Is a very special person. I've known them for 4 years, 3 of which I spent as a student at LP. They're are extremely passionate and do dedicated to ensuring that the needs of queer students at LP feel met and that students within the queer community feel supported. AnaMae should be able to celebrate their time and success at LP on graduation day with their peers.
Everyone should be offered this people are in similar situations and aren’t allowed to do this. be fair and realistic
Ana Mae is such a talented soul and beautiful girl, I really hope Boraz will let her walk. She should have the opportunity.

Taking an online class to graduate with my class is something that I’m also doing. I have to support her and ask that she get granted the same right to graduation that everyone else has.
