If it's been a full year, why is there no contract yet?? Faculty & Staff are the backbone of the school, I thought they had decision-making power in the comings, & goings of the school already. These people are human beings with lives, and families to support, they deserve job security, competitive wages in comparison to schools of commensurate esteem/prestige. it is shameful that an art and design university as large and as prestigious as ArtCenter college of design is supposed to be a beacon of progress (especially when compared to competitor schools such as RISD) and is somehow *more* behind on employee policies than some major corporate conglomerates who very clearly use their power to exploit people. if ArtCenter as an institution is as progressive as it claims to be it's time to put it's money it's mouth is. It's ArtCenter's teachers that are what brings it's students to ArtCenter and keep it afloat. without it's teachers the school is nothing. —It's time to return the favor.

We stand united in our vision of a thriving creative community, where the creators and conveyors of culture are granted the recognition and support they rightfully deserve. Addressing the matter of equitable compensation and comprehensive support for ArtCenter faculty is of utmost importance. Prioritizing the well-being and professional growth of our esteemed faculty members is not only a matter of fairness, but also a strategic necessity. By furnishing the essential resources and acknowledgment, we are sowing the seeds for a brighter future, benefiting not only the faculty themselves but also the generations of artists and designers they inspire. We are resolute in our belief that this endeavor is not merely reasonable, but indeed imperative, given ArtCenter's pivotal role in shaping the creative landscape. This dedication will resonate through time, leaving an enduring imprint on both the institution and the wider cultural milieu.

ArtCenter wouldn't be what it is today without its faculty. As an ArtCenter alumna, I wouldn't be where I am today without the faculty. The future and legacy of ArtCenter are dependent on its faculty.

I am embarrassed by this administration's continued inability to support faculty's basic requests and needs fairly. The majority of ArtCenter's peer institutions have managed to establish budding unions successfully and ArtCenter needs to follow suit. It is unfortunate that this school has chosen not to lead in a transformative direction but instead follow an exploitative for-profit model. Not good design at all which is why I stand with the faculty.

I'm all for transparency for the sake of everyone there. NO ONE ever talks about the cost to teach, provide adequate physical space and equip each major. The teachers pay is NOT the same.. some make far more than others. This goes into the overall cost to maintain these programs. That cost is not equal across all the majors. The programs that costs far less are the Fine Art, Illustration and Graphic Design majors. Yet the tuition is the same across the board. The students in those higher cost majors are taking advantage of the over charging done to the lower cost majors. That's unfair anyway you want to measure it. Transparency.

ArtCenter, please be the change the art and design worlds need. Fair compensation and support for the makers and transmitters of culture is not only reasonable, it’s essential. Support for ArtCenter faculty will have both material and intangible positive impacts for generations to come. It’s the right thing to do: for the faculty themselves, the students they teach, and for culture at large.
