Alumni know first hand that there is no ArtCenter without its dedicated faculty, staff, and students. In June of 2022, faculty sent a clear message when they voted overwhelmingly to form a union. While management claimed you would “work in good faith with the union to create the best possible working and learning environment,” your actions prove otherwise. After a year of negotiations, faculty still do not have a first contract. Their requests are basic and long overdue—fair pay, job security, transparency and a say in decisions that affect their livelihood and their students’ learning environment.
The undersigned alumni stand with the ArtCenter Faculty Federation and call on you to do what is right and necessary to keep ArtCenter the outstanding institution that it has been and can continue to be.

To be frank, admin's inability to negotiate in good faith—for a full year—is appalling. Other art & design schools have done so successfully, so it reflects poorly on ArtCenter, a supposed leader in this space, to continue delaying this form of progress. Please prioritize ACFF and your students by paying your faculty a fair, living wage.
Fair pay, fair contract. We constantly talk about being paid fairly as designers, faculty deserve the same support and compensation to back it up.
ArtCenter is built on its faculty’s expertise. We were the first school to put practicing artists and designers in the classroom, and it gave students an incredible step up when it came time to start their practice or find a great place to work. ArtCenter should strive to not only produce the best graduates, but to be an attractive workplace for skilled teachers.
ArtCenter's reputation has, is, and will always be built upon the success and drive of the faculty. The union's asks are all attainable and honestly a bare minimum. As an alumni, it's hard to say I'm proud of my alma mater when I know that the people who built up my education aren't having their basic needs met.
I've built lifelong friendships and mentorships through this school. Some of the union members I work with were my professors. I am appalled by their stories of how they have been treated.
ArtCenter is nothing without their amazing faculty! They deserve these basic requests and more!

ArtCenter, please be the change the art and design worlds need. Fair compensation and support for the makers and transmitters of culture is not only reasonable, it’s essential. Support for ArtCenter faculty will have both material and intangible positive impacts for generations to come. It’s the right thing to do: for the faculty themselves, the students they teach, and for culture at large.
