An Urgent Call for Integrative Neuroimmune Clinics

As a PANDAS mother we have endured the the hurdles that come with this disease. Spent years fighting for proper treatment, finding doctors who are knowledgeable and educated on this, spent thousands out of pocket for care and we are just one of so many going through the same thing! We need change to happen, the research and data are established and we need to bring attention to it as in recent years numbers continue to grow! No child suffering from a TREATABLE disease should have to struggle to get proper care.

My daughter has PANDAS and it has been a struggle to find providers who understand this disease and know how to properly treat it. I believe many childrens' behavioral problems can be linked to some type of neuroinflammation and by treating the underlying cause, we can save children from a lifetime of unnecessary stigmas and psychiatric treatments.

More clinics are needed with Drs who recognize PANS/PANDAS earlier on with treatment options to help these children!!

It took 4 years. FOUR YEARS! A quarter of my young daughter's life to get a diagnosis and correct treatment. My youngest daughter spent literally half of her life being dragged to doctor appointments and ER visits as her older sister crashed again and again and again. We begged for help from over a hundred doctors during those four years. Not one knew anything about the type of neuro immune illnesses children can get. Instead, we got several referrals to CPS for Munchausen by proxy. But when the CPS workers sat down and looked at all of the medical records, they saw the positive tests and that my child was sick, so they closed the case and referred us back to the doctors. We would go back only to get referred to CPS again. It was traumatic to never know when we would get another knock on our door and the potential threat of our children being taken away simply because my child got sick and I didn't accept that she was just 'depressed' and "anxious.". Turns out she had a neuro immune illnesses called neuro Sjogren's that contributed to causing autoimmune encephalopathy.

Please take time to consider this Secretary Kennedy. So many families are fighting for their babies to be well. We are often met with gaslighting from the medical community. Thankfully there are hidden gems out there but often our children need hospitalization and sent to psyche hospitals.
