Dean Susan Parish founded the Bouvé Staff Council to assist her in reshaping the Bouvé College of Health Sciences into a world-class place of employment for its over 145 staff members. We are honored to be part of this effort. As you may know, she is working towards this goal with Bouvé Faculty members, as well. Towards this goal and in less than one year, she has been active in making sure that every voice in Bouvé is part of this ambitious effort. Even before starting the Staff Council, and as one of her first actions, she convened a Diversity Task Force in response to staff identified critical challenges. She has identified the need to bring in more resources, to improve communications and provide staff supports. Most importantly, Susan’s goals and focus areas include diversity, inclusion, communication, and the principle that everyone who participates in the NU accomplishments, shares in its success. During times of organizational change, there are always going to be nay-sayers, especially in the ranks of the people who represent the status quo, and who have benefitted the most under the old systems. But, we wanted you to know that in all our activities, soliciting staff input, the vast majority are in support of Susan’s vision. The Bouvé staff also want to bring BCHS into a future where we are held by others as the example of an exceptional workplace that is a credit to every member of the team working to ensure this organization’s success.
