So many staff are women working part time + working many more hours than they are paid for - simply to get the work done and not let students down. At least they should be paid the 'going rate'!

We are just asking for a fair day's pay for a fair day's work. We all have to pay our bills - and they rise by more than 1%.

It is disappointing and demoralising that we are staff are effectively being paid less for doing more (more students, more student satisfaction, etc.)

Whilst this issues is by no means exclusive to this university, there is an opportunity here to take a stand and ensure that a basic level of remuneration is met.

Pay rise capped yet again, the low paid members of staff have to continue to keep pace with the rising cost of living.
one of the enabling goal for the Univerity's 2015 target was (World class infrastructure) support staff are integral to reaching this goal ! we should not forget that performance is the foundation for effectivley achieving larger goals

Without doubt, the greatest asset the university has is it's workforce, who should be recognised and rewarded for their efforts in keeping this organisation in such a healthy state. Pay rises should at least be in line with inflation if staff morale is to be maintained …. or, rather, improved! If staff at all levels do not feel valued and, as a consequence, lack motivation, the university will inevitably suffer and become weaker. Students are adversely affected by this dispute – perhaps the future ‘student experience’ may not be such a pleasurable one if there is no positive outcome.

Prof. Dame Nancy Rothwell has accepted pay increases as failure to do so affects her professional credibility - it is only reasonable that this rule is acknowledged and extended to other University staff also, as we provide a professional service.

We are not asking for a fortune, just fairness. It is so dispiriting to be working ever harder only to have to spend increasing amounts of our spare time worrying about making ends meet as living costs rise.

The pay offer of 1% is of no use, please support a better pay ward.
