Free speech isn't one of the commandments because it is obviously implicit in a healthy society.

Academia should always be a place where open debate and the vigorous exchange of ideas and opinions are encouraged to flourish.

Everyone is going to change their minds over these gender issues in a few years.

It is high time that we address the no-platforming of gender critical viewpoints and the silencing of women.

Freedom of speech, debate, critical reasoning, intellectual integrity are vanishing from the humanities. Censorship due to extreme political agendas is among our most dangerous problems.

Women will not be free unless our starting point is a platform where we're unafraid to speak our truths

I was a dysphoric bisexual kid who grew into a feminist woman. I thought I'd found my people until I was thrown out of a feminist group and started writing by pseudonym because of my unpopular views on the nature of gender and the existence of sex-based oppression. Thank you for putting this into words. The silencing needs to stop.

I find it deeply troubling that freedom of expression, even of thought, is no longer tolerated within academic circle. These 'progressive' institutions now seem to favour the rigid thinking and critical intolerance one associates with the far right.

Free speech, and debate of the *issues*, rather than demonizing, harassing, no-platforming, censoring, and/or threatening the job or livelihood of the speaker, is essential and fundamental to academia and to sound decision-making by individuals, organizations, institutions, and society.
