Dispatchers are doing the best they can getting responding crews all the information, but sometimes they don't get all of the information placing responding crews in harms way.

Hello. EMT responders Must be kept safe and these protective garments are entirely reasonable and funding needs to be sought to provide these. Until then, allow these men and women to wear the ones they purchase.
Please.
Thank you,

Keep our first responders safe so they can return home to their loved ones at the end of their shift.

I work at AMR as an EMT in Seattle and have been in some.. situations.
Every EMS provider should have these provided by their employer.

I think things are becoming such that it would be a good ideal for all Fire & EMS workers to have them. Time for us & management to be proactive rather than reactive waiting until someone gets hurt.

Would like to see a law that agencies Municipal or private make this gear available at the coast of the agency!

I can understand not having the funding to buy vests for every paramedic in Portland, that could take years to secure, but if medics want to buy or bring or share their own vests, let them. To have a policy against it is to have a policy FOR injury.

Just give them vests how would you like it if your significant other had to be a first responder and got shot

I wish the world was safe and secure and this was not needed, but the world is harsh and dangerous and protections must be in place to protect not only the innocent, but also those who are serving others.
EMS is in no less danger when responding than officers in law enforcement. Why should they not get the same protections? This is a minimal item and can save lives.
Please remove your cranial capacity from your anal regions and allow our paramedics this small request.

I work as an EMT in Reno Nevada, and if I was able to, I would wear a vest while at work. I care about my own safety and the safety of other EMS's. I really hope you reach your goal.

In the last 36 years much has changed. Used to be we would go on a “Shots fired” call and it would be a car backfire, or a board dropped.
I’ve been on three calls where guns were pointed at me. Many more calls when knives were pulled in the back of the ambulance while transporting. Yes I want to protect myself, and my coworkers. Stab proof vests minimum, able to carry armored plates even better.

I am a resident of Portland and know it is dangerous out there. I support our first responders to feel safe, and be safe. If they feel safe with a vest so be it.
