Ridiculous that this is being debated, EMS absolutely need equipment like this.

Medics save lives, vests save medics.

If EMS is willing to do everything they can to save our lives there’s absolutely no reason they should be in danger of risking their own to do so.

EMS workers shouldn't have to fear for their lives while saving others. Perhaps if you were actually experiencing the dangers they have been facing to WANT to add to the weight and cumbersomeness of their uniform with their own fund you would see the truth a bit clearer from behind a desk evaluating budget numbers. There are already too few people skilled enough to work in this high stress field, let's keep them alive while doing that valuable job of theirs!

All people regardless of job have a right to be safe at work. If your paramedics feel they need this, the they have a right to have it.

My friend is an EMS and he was stabbed in the lung.

Millions of dollars of equipment to improve chances of survival for patients; zero concern about the survival of first responders. That's phenomenally ignorant.

I think a color code typical of medical workers would help.

Everyone should be entitled to his or her own protection especially when purchasing themselves.

If there is a chance they can get shot they should have protection. Do the right thing!

Safety first.

Safety is important. I dont get why we need to sign a petition for something so basic as a vest.

You cant be having the medics getting hurt trying to help people.

I wouldnt say that Portland is the most dangerous place but its better to be safe rather than sorry.

Everyone should be protected, especially when you put your life on the line to save others!!
