It's pretty unacceptable that this isn't standard throughout the country. If your medics need to respond to a situation where safety isn't assured, they should be able to request protection while they respond to the needs of others

I’m a huge supporter of law enforcement and other first responders such as EMS and firefighters. When everyone is running away from escalated situations, these people run towards it to help those in need. Everyone who is willing to do that with their own life should have some protection.

My son is working for San Bernadino CA fire and was issued a bulletproof vest with his gear. I'm greatful that this county values their lives enough to give them the proper equipment. Portland should do the same.

If things are truly becoming more dangerous for first responders it's of the utmost importance that they receive the equipment necessary to keep them safe. In turn keeping them as protected as possible helps them save more lives.
