This is an Amnesty International Petition.
' In 2012 we have a once in a lifetime oppurtunity to create a International Bullaet Proof Arms Trade Treaty. Yet the treaty remains under threat from a handful of governments who do not wish to see the global arms trade brought under effective control.
There is never been a more important time for the U.K government to lead efforts to secure a strong, comprehensive ATT that helps stop arms fuelling human rights abuses, armed conflict, crime and poverty.
Therefore we the undersigned urge the Prime Minister David Cameron to commmit to delivering a truly robust and effective Arms Trade Treaty that will help save lives and protect human rights in 2012.'
The international community remains divided on the details of these regulations while we continue to organize our pressure on the Prime Minister. I am currently drafting a formal briefing to outline the urgent need for a robust and comprehensive enforcement mechanism. Your participation provides the necessary foundation for these discussions.

The momentum behind this request is gathering significant speed. It is clear that the public demand for a rigorous Arms Trade Treaty is becoming impossible for officials to ignore.
