You must continue to bus chaminade students, that’s the least you can do after these families are paying same taxes as families of Amityville students

As a parent of 4 private school educated children, I would have been devastated if the district had decided not to provide bussing to their individual schools.

Private school students within a reasonable distance from Amityville should receive transportation from the district.

Families that pay insane high school taxes and save the Amityville School District a lot of money by sending their children to private school should not be burdened with the additional expense of transportation to the private school when it us a reasonable distance away from Amityville.

All three of my children went to Catholic schools from kindergarten to graduating high school. All those years busing was provided through our local school system which received our school taxes paid in full. No voucher system existed meaning no tax relief whatsoever. I do not understand why this is even a discussion to be had. I would add I always supported the school budget regardless of if I agreed with it for fear of those students losing out on what in many cases is one of the few positives in their lives. Sports and extra curriculum activities always seem to be the first on the chopping block. I would expect those young families currently choosing to use private schools be extended the same transportation that they are now paying for in full through their school taxes. In closing, biting off one of the hands that feeds you is never a wise choice.

Next budget vote will get a no from me unless the board dismisses this dumb idea and saves by either relooking at NE or increases class sizes nearer to pre pandemic
