In light of the most recent shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Gilroy, California, we can no longer sit idly by and allow for nationalistic propoganda to inspire a culture of hate within our nation.

As followers of Christ, our allegiance is to another Kingdom. We too are aliens in a foreign land according to the scriptures. This petition is not intended to support any particular political party or immigration policy, the purpose of this petition is to outwardly, unequivocally, and uniformly denounce any speech that encourages a hatred for the foreigner in the United States.

Furthermore, we want the President of the United States to understand where Christians stand as it relates to this issue and hold him accountable. In short, as Christians we denounce any speech meant to dehumanize any individual, particulary those of non-European descent or origin in light of his proclivity to persistently make racially-charged and racist remarks.

Given our white evangelical brothers and sisters have represented a significant portion of Donald Trump's support, we are especially calling upon this base to stand with the Lord Jesus Christ in this matter. We are calling you to identify with the most vulnerable among us that their human dignity may be esteemed. Let us definitively state through our actions that we reject any ideals that suggest any people group is of more importance than another.

In Christ,

Akin Walker
