To the Honorable Representatives in the Congress and Senate of the United States, we the undersigned Cherokee Citizens, and U.S. Tax payers request the United States Congress immediately amend the Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990 (P.L. 101-644) which is a truth-in-advertising law that prohibits misrepresentation in marketing of Indian arts and crafts products within the United States, to include speech, the written word, and all forms of Native American Music. We also request without equivocation, that the United States government, on behalf of All Native American people, write in protection and enforcement for all Native American Artist's rights under the afore mentioned law. CC: Chief Chadwick Smith Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.

The feedback I keep getting confirms exactly why this amendment is necessary. It is exhausting work to challenge legal loopholes while facing constant silence from those in charge. I am still pushing forward because our culture should not be something anyone can exploit for profit.

Enough with the fake artists selling stuff that isnt authentic. It hurts real tribal members trying to make a living.

About time someone looked at this. The language is outdated and needs to cover everything not just jewelry.

This needs to be updated. The law is way too old and doesnt cover music or writers. Fix it now.

My grandfather was Cherokee and he would be so mad to see how people just steal the heritage for profit. Do something.

Its just not right. People need to stop lying about where their art comes from. Enforcement is the only way this works.
