As a former Children's Advocate and case worker at a domestic violence shelter and a separate children's shelter, I support the change in order to protect all MS animals from abuse and neglect. Pets are often used as pawns by abusers, and many women are afraid to leave because their pets might be killed.

animal abuse is a felony and the laws should reflect that. Animal abuse commands prison not only a fine. Make it mandatory prison time for convicted animal abusers

We want felony convictions for abuse not a slap on wrist. Take a strong stand Ms. Govt and do what is right
Please, animal abusers are violent, heartless criminals.

Those who harm innocent, helpless animals should be held accountable! It is outrageous to think otherwise. Let's step it up Mississippi!

I firmly believe that anyone who will abuse and neglect an animal will also abuse and neglect a human. No heart for living beings.

Animal cruelty must be made a felony. Animal abusers will abuse you too. They are just practicing.

This has been along time coming. I served as Animal Control for a year. It was absolutely horrible the animal I encountered. Our state is so behind in laws. Laws that need to be enforced , so we don't have repetitive offenders. Once charged they should lose the right to own a pet. This would also create revenue for local government.

The laws need to be a lot tougher. Pets are defenseless. They need us to help them. We are their voice.
This is long overdue
