Anything that has a heartbeat, whether it be human or animal should have the same penalties when it comes to being beaten, starved, or mistreated in any shape firm or fashion.

I'm a new Mississippian, an American, a pet owner, a rescuer, a newlywed, a home owner yet I'm not proud to live in a state that has no respect for the welfare of our beasts we call family.
It sickens me to think that animal cruelty being only a misdemeanor will invite criminal activity such as dog fighting, drugs, prostituition, theft, robbery, rape & even murder into the state I now call home.
It worries me that my first home that I've worked so hard for may not be able to sell because it has been reduced by such illegal activity.
No one wants to live in a state that welcomes animal cruelty. No one wants to visit a state that doesn't punish someone that can torture a soul and walk away with a mere slap on the wrist.
No one wants to be associated with such wickedness.
No one wants to near such EVIL.
The federal govt knows that monsters that abuse animals more often than not harm humans as well. The FBI has mandated a federal database effective 1/1/16 to profile this lot of despecitable criminal behavior.
We all need to who these monsters are, where they live. No one wants to live next door to the darkest of shadows.
No one wants to take away our agriculture. We are proud of our farms but every soul has feelings. To be treated as if they don't matter that we can recklessly disregard their pain wounds my own soul to no end.
What have we become?
A society that tolerates evil will drown in its own pride. For there is no pride behind a hard hand or a tough heart that can't be broken.
There is no future for mankind without these precious beasts. You may call them pets but to most of us they are our friends.
To some of us, they are our only family.
We will not be silent for those without a voice. We will not stand still and allow evil to penetrate our towns and destroy everything we believe in only to be knocked down because of greed.
This state I've fallen in love with has broken my heart and I like others will move.

Humans need to realize that we are not the only beings with souls who feel love and pain alike. We domesticated these animals as our companions, it's time to start acting like their a priority and not an option.
