Hopefully this will convince my husband to buy me one.

Very family oriented neighborhood, with great people. Holds events for children and neighbors all the time. Driving a golf cart is much safer to travel by than young teenagers blaring music in a car as well

As long as everyone drives responsible and keep the music down. I know the kids love it and it's fun for those who own one.

No problem as long as everyone is being safe about it, which seems to mostly be the case.

Hi Tom! The ordinance will have sanctions for those that don’t follow the guidelines. That is the main reason why we want to enforce this. Most communities (Belleville, Mascoutah, Fairview Heights) already have one in place and it works great for them. This also will create some revenue for the Village as drivers will have to pay a permit.

What guarantees are there that you would enforce following rules/laws as stated in your petition when several in your group already disregard them? For example, you can't claim your vehicle to be road legal in neighborhoods and adjacent roads and then repeatedly drive on the bike trail, which prohibits those vehicles, as I have seen numerous times. I've also seen golf carts driving next to each other, not staying on their side of the road when a vehicle is approaching, holding children in laps while driving, and driving with people standing on the back while in motion, which are all illegal for vehicles in Illinois. During summer holidays I've also witnessed passengers, likely intoxicated, yelling at people as they drive by. Golf carts are definitely a great idea and can be useful, green, and fun. But when a few grown adults act like entitled children on them, why should I trust that you (the law-abiding members of the group) will do anything to police yourselves? When members of the neighborhood say anything they are belittled for being no fun.

Absolutely, this is a big neighborhood and it’s a lot safer than driving a vehicle around with our kids running around.

Yes to Golf carts! They don’t go that fast, they are quite, safe, and fun for the whole family.
There needs to be rules and regulations
Hopefully this will convince my husband to buy me one.
