For nearly three decades, Cats Don't Dance has held a special place in the hearts of animation and musical fans. A huge reason the movie works is the incredible performance of Jasmine Guy as Sawyer. While Jasmine gave Sawyer her iconic, sharp, and witty speaking voice, the singing voice was dubbed by the late Natalie Cole.

While we deeply respect Natalie's incredible musical legacy and beautiful contributions to the original film, 90s studio standards often split speaking and singing roles unnecessarily.

Jasmine Guy is an incredibly accomplished vocalist. A trained Alvin Ailey dancer, a veteran of major Broadway musicals (including Chicago and Grease), and a charting R&B recording artist. Jasmine has always had the vocal power and theatrical range to bring Sawyer's musical numbers to life.

Hearing a character transition seamlessly from dialogue to song using the same voice creates a much more cohesive and magical movie experience. Giving Jasmine the opportunity to finally record Sawyer's singing parts would be the ultimate tribute to her multi-talented career.
