"Weird Al" Yankovic's career has spanned the decades. His take on pop culture has tackled the zeitgeist for almost as long as Lorne Michaels' show has been on the air. Yet he has never been a guest. Neither a musical guest nor a celebrity host. While he hasn't, Steven Seagal, Tom Green, Wayne Gretzky (known for his comic timing), Ralph Nader, Ed Koch, Jesse Jackson, Mr. T and Hulk Hogan, Howard Cosell, M.C. Hammer, Charles Barkley, Nancy Kerrigan, Deion Sanders, Steve Forbes, Derek Jeter, John McCain, Al Gore, Jeff Gordon, Donald Trump, Al Sharpton, and Paris Hilton. This isn't even to mention the countless musical guests whose names are nothing more than answers to trivia questions now and the cameos by such stunners as Joey Buttofuoco. Not to put a judgement on the choices over the years. I'm certain politicians, athletes, and trendy media sensations make for great live comedy television. But a man who has won three Grammies, has four gold and four platinum albums, has millions of fans the world over, currently has a #9 single and a #10 album, and has been making both parody and original songs since 1979 would make for a no-brainer episode. Hm. The man who has been called the prince of parody has never even been invited to appear on a show known for doing parodies. . . Yep. It's about time!
