Why is everything in Hawaii so slow and inefficient.

Pharmacy students have difficult material to study and deserve a convenient, comfortable and quiet facility to to do so. I support 24 hour access for studying.

I find it ridiculous that the UH Hilo system doesn’t provide enough their for students to study and succeed. It’s already bad enough that the lower campus library is closed on Saturdays and opened with limited hours on Sunday. Now the pharmacy students get a new building and can’t even use it?

Open the building!

The students at UH Hilo’s College of Pharmacy should be allowed access to their building 24 hours a days just like how it always was at their previous facility. Many other pharmacy programs provide 24 hours access to facilities.

Most of the learning in the Pharm D. curriculum occurs outside of the classroom setting. It is important that students are allowed a clean, safe, place to study 24/7.

I support 24 hour access for studying

I loved studying late into the night at the mods. A place to study late at night is needed and most major university have a late night option for students.

We’ve been promised this building for years. We suffered through the construction phase. We persevered through the moldy chairs, broken A/C, termite infestations, and much more. We have been sacrificed much and in the words of Dean Ma and President Lassner, we paid for it. If I need to study, why shouldn’t it be in a secure environment with the resources I need to succeed? Some classes finish at 5pm and if you wan to pass your classes you need to study. Where is a student supposed to study? Why is the school kicking us out of the only place we have to go? Does the school think we should rely on Starbucks? The main library lacks basic resources needed to be make us better prepared. The school doesn’t care about us. They just want our money.

I understand that there are gradual transitions that need to be made when utilizing a new facility (safety, costs, etc.) But there are immediate and basic needs for a professional graduate student that cannot be compromised. Is the building really for us?

Needs to extend facility operation hours for students to have a place to study.

Providing a place for students to collaborate and study is vital to their success individually as well as collectively.

Students should have the right to have safe, accommodated spaces to learn if they so choose whenever they want. We are after all, paying customers. The building just opened, please let us USE it.

In regard to what is required for pharmacy students to become future pharmacists, I believe that it is important for the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy should accommodate study hours, organizations, and meetings. A vast amount of our students spend countless hours after class throughout the night studying at the College of Pharmacy, in order to reach and exceed the standards of this doctorate program. Therefore, the hours of operation for the College of Pharmacy is very critical to student learning. We ask to please reconsider the after-hours access for our students. Without access to the College of Pharmacy, due to limited study locations, we would not have a safe and reliable place to study and focus.

University of Hawaii-Hilo is my alma later. While I am proud to have received my degree from this institution. I am disgusted that you are denying access to resources that students clearly need. Expand the study hours for students and do the right thing.

College studying happens most times in the evening—6 pm is way too early. 10 pm would be reasonable

This is ridiculous. It is as if the Hawai’i school system does not value the upper level studies. Students in this program put in 100s of hours of studying. The lower campus library cannot meet the students needs. Where are they supposed to go??

Let them study in their new building! Come on!

We are in class the whole day from 8-5PM, so if the facilities are closed at 6PM when do we ever get to use them? Some of us only have one semester to use the long-awaited building, and it seems that the only services offered to us are the classrooms and the restrooms during class time. We study late through the night and would need access to wifi, rooms, tables, chairs, and etc. Extend the hours, and let us actually use the building for what it was made for.
