Allow students to use Hale Ki Ho'i Ho'i past 6:00 PM

It would be nice to study in here. Since I have no where else to study and I feel that it would give me the opportunity to work with other students on certai NBC problems or concepts I struggle with

As a former faculty at UHH College of Pharmacy i find this policy of not allowing access to the building for students appalling.

Let Ally and her classmates utilize the building!!

We wouldn't be pharmacists if we couldn't have 24 hour access to the building resources we are paying for with money from our own pockets. Keep the doors open!

Either open it up for them or build them another space it’s easy right! Just like their school , not easy! If it’s being used properly and not as a frat house there shouldn’t be an issue.

As a student with a busy schedule, I understand what it means to have a 24/7 study area that is reliable & safe.

If you do not want to end up like the inaugural class who had to make do with what little they had, then share this petition with your family and peers and encourage them to sign this. Jessica, the student council president, called all of us lucky and said that although she felt a bit jealous knowing we were going to be getting a new building when they had it hard back then, she was also proud knowing they paved the pathway for success at the DKICP. But now, it is ironical with the building having ho’iho’i in its name, which was meant restoration and new beginnings, when it feels like we’re taking steps backwards.

Sometimes I miss staying over night studying for those exams, j/k. Good luck students!

It is ridiculous that over $30 million was spent to construct this hale, only to be accessible during business hours. The cost of attendance for graduate students in the UH system is double than the COA of undergraduates who are residents of Hawaiʻi. It does not make sense that the DKICP students pay (through scholarships, loans, and/or out-of-pocket) these fees and receive inadequate resources. Not only do the students pay with kālā (money) to this institution, they invest their time and energy to learn all that they can to become efficient healthcare providers. Time and energy has more value. These students dedicate four years (and more) of their lives to this profession. Therefore, it is vital to ensure that the quality of their time spent here is superlative. Moreover, “security measures,” is a poor excuse to restrict building access in the evening. This was not an issue at the previous campus facility.

You should allow students to study pass 6pm!

24 hour building!

Students should have access to their building to study. There is no right to remove study spaces from students who truly want to study and have taken care of the buildings they were given.

The students needs access to the facilities to be successful. Please allow them access.

We shouldn’t limit resources and proper study environments to students who will be contributing to the heath and pharmaceutical needs of our community! As a member of society, I want a knowledgeable health care provider taking care of myself and my family. Restricting student access to a resource will only hinder their ability to learn and be successful. They need proper facilities that accommodate their field of study which they cannot get at the normal library or at home. Hire more security if that is really a big concern! It’s not like UH can’t afford to. To say that safety and security is the main concern is utter nonsense as pharmacy students have been granted 24/7 access to their school in the past years and security was never an issue then! So why is it suddenly an issue now without any incident? Hire more security and stop shafting students! They don’t pay an enormous graduate level tuition only to be denied access to the tools and learning environment they need to succeed! Taking their money, not fulfilling promised educational tools, and denying them access of valuable resources without valid reason is robbery. What a slap in the face to our pharmacy students.

Run. If you got accepted into another program, go there. This is just the tip of other ice burg as far as their problems go. Run.

In the Hawaii Tribune-Herald new on Nov. 25, Hawaii Pharmacy College Faculty Votes No Confidence in Dean. Dean Ma said the vote is an" opportunity for me to listen more, to make sure that we try to come together as a faculty," Ma said. In this regard, hope Dean Ma listen to the students, faculty and staff. Lead by example and practiced in and out of the workplace in order for it to be genuine.
