Please allow the students to use the new facility 24hrs a day and provide their security as was in the previous building you had. Thank you.

24-hour access is essential for students so that they have the space needed to study for a healthcare profession.

Dean Carolyn Ma just sent a ridiculous email out to all of us students saying the hours have been extended to 12 midnight. The email says, “ At midnight, security will come to lock the building and students may move to Modular Building A to study.” How does this make sense at all? We still have been given no reason as to why 24 hour access, just like we had before, isn’t possible. She’s also now being passive aggressive and putting it on students to provide a “student monitor” to “sign in and out” other students when they enter after hours until midnight. In her email she says she wants to have a open forum on Tuesday and says that for this meeting, “we would like the session to revolve around how a designated student group can team with administration and security on a daily/nightly basis to monitor student use, assure clean up and be the student leader to work with security at the midnight closure.” Umm, EXCUuuuUuuSE me, Carolyn, shouldn’t this be SECURITY’S JOB?! Not my job when I already pay $40,000+ a year to come to school here?! No wonder why the faculty have no confidence in you! This is HEWA!!!

Waste of space if not utilized to the fullest. I would not want my prescription to be messed up.

The administration needs to realize we are adults and future colleagues. If you want us to be good representatives of the school and be prepared for the future of pharmacy we need 24 hour accessibility to this building. Without us there would not be a building, they would not have their jobs, and the state and community would not be benefitting from our services. The security has never been an issue and is a manufactured problem. Show us the data that supports your claims and let us be proven wrong. I have spend some of the most time in those mods studying in to the early morning. The mods are not the solution. We need to have access to the building we were promised. It makes no logical sense to have this building if we can’t use it as it is intended. I highly doubt those administrators would have their degrees if they did not study late into the early morning hours. It’s hypocritical and irrational. It’s not your building, it’s ours. Let us use it! All the classes that came before us are appalled, confused, and disappointed in this decision.

I find it ridiculous that student pharmacists are being denied the right to study inside the COP for as long as they want. Upgrade security measures after business hours and allow 24 hour student access!

As alumni of this school, I know I wouldn’t have passed without having a 24/7 study area. I agree with “DontSettle”

Classmates, don’t settle for anything less than 24/7 access! We deserve better!

It is a joke that we even have to petition for access to our own building that we paid for the majority of. Especially at a school with a library that closes at 6 pm on Fridays and is closed on Saturdays.

They need to provide this facility to the hardworking students and their hours. Not what is convenient. I hope they get access they really need. Mahalo.
