Allow Student More Freedom With Hair Color

We have a right to the freedom of expression. If someone chooses to express themself with their hair color, then they have no right taking that away. If our hair color is “distracting”, then that’s not our problem. That’s on the ones who are getting distracted by something so small. Like it said in the petition, we are high schoolers who are still trying to discover ourselves. Taking away our ability to do so is messed up. We can’t express ourselves via our clothes, at least let us express our self via something like hair color.

They need to worry more about their own teachers than the students. They aren’t teaching literally anything, and half of them are using ChatGPT to make their assignments. It’s school—it’s meant for learning, not a juvenile detention center. Also, it isn’t affecting anyone.

Students should be able to express themselves in at least some aspects of school live. Many people enjoy to change their hair stylistically, and stripping this is a shame.

It’s an outdated rule that has no right to be enforced in the last semester of a school year while only giving students a week notice to fix their hair to conform.

I think we as students should be able to express ourselves plus it’s not distracting anyone from their work it’s just hair.

we should be able to express our colors in our hair it shows a sign of freedom we are not in an elementary school or private school we are in a PUBLIC high school and we should have the right to wear whatever hair color we want !!!

Why are they suddenly decided to care about this? You can't suddenly enforce a rule you have never inforced? Your not supposed to have tattoos but kids never get in trouble for that. Why dont they enforce that?

as cas said in the comments, copy and pasting since its SO VALID "your hair is one of your only means of self expression during highschool and any attempt to suppress that is both cruel and and disrespectful to their bodily autonomy. children are human beings. colorful hair is not a distraction, those rules are oppressive" !!! this!!!! do not oppress kids just because you have some power over them. colorful hair doesn't distract. what does distract from education is making a big deal about it, trying to ban it, and dress coding kids for it. If their parents allow them, they should be allowed to express themselves through their hair. self expression is the key to school spirit! please don't let Walker become a duller place! please sign and DON'T LET THIS BAN HAPPEN!!!

Having colored hair is not a distraction and is a great way for students to connect with each other
