Allow religious freedoms in the Winston Churchill School

Are schools have always been inclusive and I think it’s a good thing. These individuals should not be allowed to make these kinds of changers it should always be discussed.

The head teacher should be fired for this, as schools such as: Woking High School, let their kids pray at break and lunch.

We live in a beautifully tolerant country of those of faith and none. If no harm is being done (how can it when u pray to god?!) Then what is the problem. If its out the way and not harming anyone.

Allow religious practice in school it's a free and civilised country.

The school should respect the faith of children. It's an environment which should educate not treat us pupils like they are in prison stripped of their rights

I support this petition. The issue is not simply access to prayer, but whether the school's current approach is proportionate. The TTT v Michaela case relied on by the school was based on very specific circumstances, including evidence of disruption, and did not establish a general rule permitting blanket bans. Where pupils are reportedly praying quietly without disruption, being interrupted mid-prayer and having items removed appears difficult to justify as a proportionate response. This raises real concerns about consistency with the Equality Act 2010 and how these duties are being applied in practice.

I believe all people should have a right to their own religious practices if not causing harm or distress to others.

I don’t practice religion however I don’t think anyone has the right to stop others from doing so especially a school! Any adult to physically mentally or emotionally abuse a child raises a safeguarding concern!

We do not live in a non-secular country. With divisions widening in our society in the current political, and geopolitical world we're living in, tolerance, understanding, inclusivity and the prospect of living in a cohesive society needs to be rebuilt, starting with our children and youngsters. Freedom to practice your religion of choice has always been the case, and the law, individual this country. Denying Muslim students from practicing their religion will only cause tensions, further division and segregation of communities. The same applies for any student, practising any religion; religion is a great subject for discussion in school RS lessons, where students can learn about each other's religions and beliefs, and can gain better insight and understanding. It is also OK to be atheist, but understanding each others religious beliefs, wherever you are on the religious spectrum, can only enhance communities and wider society . When communities are oppressed, this is when they 'fight' back. We need to get back to a tolerant, understanding society, if we want to live in peaceful, tolerant, integrated communities. Live and let live.
