I love having our chickens and ducks as well as our kids. Having them to be self-sufficient, as well as responsible for some thing, other than a dog.

I lived in the Everett and Bothell area for 14 years before recently moving back to Cashmere. Chickens were common at many private residences and never an issue. I also worked closely with Everett code enforcement fielding complaints and the only complaints I came across were a noisy rooster.
Raising chickens for a sustainable food source is a no brainer and I was surprised to hear The City of Cashmere doesn't allow it. It needs to change.

The city needs to be like the other cities and allow a certain amount of hens on someones property. Nothing better than fresh eggs and sitting out with a beverage enjoying "Chicken TV".

This is an option everyone needs to have at this time. One acre minimum seems to be an unreasonable restriction. The vast majority of properties in town are perfectly sufficient for raising small number of hens. Maybe even a permission for 24 hour limited rooster stud allowance. Please consider.
