As an OCI, I cannot change demonitised Indian currency! It was publicised we could change it until 31st March and now the rules have changed. It is not fair and my hard earned money is useless.

We have indian currency but as we have the OCI card, we were not able to exchange our currency during our visit to India in Feb 2017. I would appreciate if Indian government looks into the matter urgently.
thank you.

This step motherly treament of OCI card holders vis a vis NRI is unfair and unwarranted

I agree with this. An earlier RBI directive officially permitted non-citizens including OCI to take Rs. 25,000 outside the country. OCI and also other non-citizens must be allowed to encash at least that much per person when they visit India next or credibility of RBI is at stake.

This information is for NRI (Non Resident Indians) and not for OCI (Overseas Citizens of India) or PIO (People of Indian Origin) card holders. The RBI notification clearly states this. We need to push Govt. of India for policy and provision to make for OCi and Pio card holders foreign citizens. Thanking you.

For that matter, why should anyone holding few thousands due to oversight or any other reason suffer, we are indian citizens right ? . PM said deadline till march, then changed it overnight, even if you have all rights to deposit , the money should be dep in RBI at designated cities , why not any SBI counter ... it looks like we have sinned by holding our own currency , my uncle has around 30k in old notes , now the ordinance says its a crime and he can be fined :-(

Yes seems the Indian govt does not care about our money which is legal. The deadlines don't work and there should be some sort of provision for OCI
