Allow OCI / PIO to exchange Indian Rupees

Its a very bad decision made by indian government why they have excluded people with OCI .if they cant visit india for some reason it means their money is wasted and law doesn't say they are not allowed to keep indian currency

I feel they should allow us to convert old 500 and 1000 rupeee notes.

I would really appreciate if someone can help, I am hard working mom with two kids,

we visit India every year on Diwali and coming back bring some Indian Money ( about 10K INR) to be used on next visit. It is a matter of only 300 US dollars but Government should be considerate to OCI card holders. as they are called Overseas Citizens of India and should be allowed to travel with at least with this small exchange.

Indian government has to understand NRIs don't visit India every year.

My repeated e-mails on this matter to the RBI, HCI (London) and Mr Modi's office have been ignored. Modi government has increasingly adopted dictatorial (and unfair on all accounts) attitude/policies such as this over a period of time. A Govt that started so well is gradually losing all admiration of general public rapidly both at home and abroad. Hope that Mr Modi looks into this matter personally and obliges OCIs/PIOs by allowing them to exchanges their legitimately held demonetized currency notes through banks in the countries where they reside.

I do support the current demonetization campaign. But, at the same time it is so disheartening to realize that we as OCI/PIO have trouble converting few thousand Rs ( for example 10K) to new denominations whereas most corrupt people back have crores of cash legalized. I expect government to show some concern and willingness to look into this.

It is not fair to the oci community that they did not get the same opportunities as nri to ex change the demonetized notes. We are traveling to India end of October 2017 and would like to exchange what we brought back from last visit to india.

June 30 deadline has gone. I hope Mr Modi considers arrangement for OCI holding demonetized currency. I sign this petition and request Modi to quit harassing OCI who are losing money earned by hard work.

Please give us provisions made by RBI for OCI and PIO cards holders to exchange old 500 and 1000 Indian rupees

I visited RBI to deposit the money in Jul 2017 and I was told OCI holders cannot deposit. So I lost all of my money which is legally issued by RBI Governor and guaranteed by Central Govt. I am sure there are hundreds of thousands people who are living outside India are impacted and their hard earned money is underwater. I fully support the motion to petition against govt decision to arbitrarily stop accepting legal bills.

Hi , I am Vaidehi. I am an OCI card holder. I posses 12000 INR old currency notes. I had been to India in Oct 2016 ,as my parents passed away. I returned from India only on 4th Nov .From 6th Nov this demonitisation started and could not go back as i was working. In Feb when I went , i thought i can deposit in RBI .Then only I came to know that all RBI are not allowed and OCI card holders can not deposit.It is not fare . This is all hard earned money . Govt. should do something.

My dad passed away in 2013 and I brought my mom to live in US with me in July 2013. She is now 78 and too ill to go back to India.I am very busy cancer doctor in US and am here busy taking care of my sick patients and mom. During my several trips to India ,taking care of my parents,I have legal /white money in rupees which needs exchange after demonetization. We were told that after Jan 1 till June 30th, NRI could deposit money in RBI banks. But ,then RBI/Indian Government changed their stance and excluded PIO /OCI holders . I think it amounts to deceptive trading. How can India always want financial support from Indian NRI's with OCI/PIO cards and then exclude us from valid exchange. It is heartbreaking and theft by deception. I am afraid that in future Indians abroad may not be as supportive of India if this situation isn't corrected in a timely fashion.

Honest Indian diaspora has and continues to contribute to India. Request that they not be penalized.

If we can prove that we exchanged our foreign currencies for INR then the Govt.should be honest and fair to exchange the demonitized currency.

Not acceptable, current process does not cover all Indian Origin, I do appreciate and support current campaign but and this process has not set up properly, changed rules and policy almost every day and finally they missed OCI and PIO holders...what you are trying to achieve? thought you have extreme smart policy maker but don't think so who really think about nation and their people. (only NMO can not change the nation, NMO has direction but surely someone should step up and write good policy afterwards to support whole campaign, now there are lof of dissatisfy Indians who even support demonetization but not happy because they could not exchange their valuable hard earned income.

I request to allow OCIs ro exchange demonitised currency via Indian counsulates

Please allow OCI and PIO card holders with foreign passport to be able go deposit old Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 in India considering their roots belong to India.

I have Indian currency to exchange ,Gives us at least two years to exchange.
