My days as a theatre student at the University of Georgia are filled with the memories of directing, witnessing or performing in innumerable scenes, one-acts or full length plays in our black box theatre--creations that helped to shape and inform who I am today. While textbooks are valuable commodities and need to be protected, I feel that the MHU theatre students are even more valuable and require greater protections from the current climate of slashing fine arts education programs across this country. These artistic students, more than in many fields, require the highest possible competitive edge as they enter the workforce. Surely together we can work out a solution that will allow this state of the art facility to be used in the manner for which it was funded and erected .

Black box theatre spaces provide unique perspective for young and inquisitive artists. Take the storage somewhere else. Show these students that arts education matters by giving space to play and create.

After many years of blood, sweat and tears MHU Theatre Arts Department and SART finally got the prize! We are so proud and grateful!
Please, correct this misunderstanding about the book storage... Thank you!

I'm a MHC Theatre Arts Graduate who has been a working actor for thirty years and this is appalling. The space to make theater is essential. My memories of working at MHC still inspire me to this day. Please allow present and future artists to be inspired too. Free the Thomas Black Box Theater for the Theater Students.

The theatre dept deserves the same treatment as all the other academic programs. A black box theatre is NOT a storage space.

The use of the black box theatre is imperative for the education of the theatre students! Please consider making it available, rather than using it for storage.

You wouldn't store text books in a chemistry lab. A theater is not a storage room. It's a useful facility for future professionals.

Sorry performing arts majors, book storage is more valuable.
Would not the athletic facilities offer more space?
